Arrived in London

Today was the day I made the trip from Boston to London. At the gate in Boston I met up with Michael LeClerc and Maureen Taylor who were on my flight.

I was quite surprised that the flight actually left on time. It only took aobut 5 3/4 hours to make the journey to London, although we had to circle Heathrow for about 25 minutes. Upon arriving it was a quick trip through the airport. We all stopped at an ATM and got ourselves some local currency.

After picking up our bags and going through customs it was on to the transportation counter to buy an Oyster pass for public transportation here in London, which was immediately used to take the tube from the airport to the hotel which only took about 30 minutes.

I arrived at the Think hotel and met up with Alvie Davidson with whom I am sharing a room. I met a nice woman at the hotel counter that turned out to be from Poland.

Since neither Alvie or I had eaten yet, we decided to get something to eat and have a beer. Someone at the local store told us about a pub nearby that would serve our needs.

We each ended up ordering some delicious Indian food at The Warwick Arms Pub. It turned out that the woman who served us was also from Poland. Of course it goes without saying that the conversation turned to genealogy and not only with the beautiful hostess, but also with the 3 beautiful women from Norway who were seated behind Alvie.

Tomorrow will be a day of exploring London with Alvie. Just hope I can manage to get to sleep tonight!
