Barbarka Memorial & St. Barbara Chapel & Park

Memorial for those that diedThe next stop we made after seeing Bierzgłowski Castle was to Barbarka Memorial. This place is to remember those that were killed during WWII in mass executions. The area contains many mass graves of about 1000 people. Many people that lost their lives here have been identified and are listed on a notice board by name and place of origin. They even list persons they believe may be there and are also listed them as such with their place of origin.

If you have an ancestor or relative that you can not find information on any more that are from this area, you may want to see if they are listed. I have photos of the notice board, but I am sure this information is available on the Internet.

Nearby is a family park with St. Barbara Chapel. It is especially nice for the children because there are many things there that teach children about nature and ecology. This beautiful wooded park is frequented on the weekends by families for rest and relaxation. You can even have some fun in the rope park and get some climbing in, take a walk on the trails or just relax by the pond.
